Code of Conduct & Terms
PitPool only works because students trust each other enough to share a car. These are the commitments everyone makes when they join.

Text messages
PitPool texts you when your ride group forms, and puts you in a group chat with the people you're sharing a car with. You opt in explicitly when you join the queue, and you can reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. Message and data rates may apply; message frequency varies. PitPool does not send marketing texts.
The full detail — what we send, how consent is collected, and how your number is handled — is in the Privacy & SMS Policy.
Code of Conduct
When you match into a ride group, you agree to:
- Treat everyone with respect. No harassment, discrimination, or behavior that would make a fellow rider uncomfortable. Rides are shared by students of all backgrounds.
- Show up on time. Be at the agreed pickup spot when you said you would. Other people planned their airport timing around yours.
- Split fares fairly. Pay your agreed share promptly. PitPool splits the metered fare evenly unless your group agrees otherwise up front.
- Communicate. If your flight changes or you need to cancel, tell your group as early as you can so they can re-plan.
- Keep contact info private. Phone numbers and addresses shared inside a group stay inside that group. Don’t reuse them for anything else.
- Ride safely and legally. No illegal activity, no pressuring a driver, and follow the driver’s and airport’s rules.
Terms of Service
Who can use PitPool
PitPool is for verified students at participating Pittsburgh-area schools. You must sign in with a valid .edu email and provide accurate profile information.
What PitPool does
PitPool is a matchmaking service. We introduce students who are traveling to or from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) around the same time so they can share a ride and split the cost. PitPool is not a transportation provider — we don’t operate vehicles, employ drivers, or set fares. The actual ride is arranged and paid for between you, your group, and whatever car service you choose.
Your responsibilities
You’re responsible for your own travel decisions, for arranging and paying for the ride itself, and for your conduct toward the people you’re matched with. Use good judgment when meeting and traveling with people you were matched with.
Privacy
We collect the profile and trip details you provide to match you and to let your group coordinate. Contact details are only revealed inside a matched group. We don’t sell your personal information.
Limitation of liability
PitPool is provided “as is.” Because we don’t provide the transportation, we aren’t liable for anything that happens during a ride, for the conduct of other riders or drivers, or for missed flights. To the fullest extent permitted by law, PitPool’s liability is limited.
Changes
We may update these terms as PitPool grows. If we make material changes, we’ll let you know. Continuing to use PitPool after an update means you accept the revised terms.
