Three different flights, twenty-two minutes in common. Sam overlaps with nobody, so the same run tells him no group formed and he arranges his own ride.

The empty seat holds bags too, so a third rider is easier to fit than a fourth. Most groups are three; groups that don’t fit are never built.

pitpool is the matchmaker and nothing else — no payments, no booking, no dispatch, no card on file. The fare is an estimate; whatever the meter says, the three or four of you divide it between yourselves.

Can I use it to get to the airport?
Not yet. Rides to the airport are paused; pitpool matches PIT → campus only.
Do I have to give my flight number?
No. Give it and we fill your landing time and re-check the schedule before matching. What you typed always wins.
Will I get three people or four?
Usually three. An UberX seats four, but a group of four has only its trunk — a group of three also has the empty seat, which holds exactly one more checked bag. The luggage runs out before the seats do, so three is the ordinary group and four is a discount on top.
What if nobody matches me?
You are told in the same run, the day before your flight. We widen the radius from two miles to five before giving up.
Who books the car and pays the driver?
Whoever volunteers. You get everyone’s phone number; pitpool never touches the money and never books anything.
Why won’t you match just two people?
Holding out for a fuller car is a better trade across the whole pool. Three is the smallest group we build — if someone cancels later, the remaining two still ride.
