Privacy & SMS Policy
PitPool is a matchmaker for airport rides. We hold the least we can get away with, and the only people who ever see your contact details are the students you're sharing a car with.
Last updated: August 2026
What we collect
- Your account. Name,
.eduemail address, and profile photo, from Google when you sign in. PitPool is students-only, so the.eduaddress is how we check you belong here. - Your phone number. Used to text you your ride group and to put you in a group chat with them. Nothing else.
- Your trip. Flight date and time, flight number if you give it, your neighborhood, and what luggage you're bringing. Luggage matters because it decides how many people physically fit in one car with you.
- Your school and home neighborhood, so we can group you with people nearby.
Who can see it
When you're matched into a ride group, the other students in that group see your first name, school, phone number, neighborhood, and luggage — that is the whole point of the match, and you agree to it before you join the queue.
They do not see your exact address, your email address, or your last name. If you want to share a precise pickup spot, you do that yourselves in the group chat.
Nobody outside your ride group sees your contact details. We do not sell your data, and we do not run ads.
Text messages
How you opt in
PitPool never texts you until you ask it to. When you join the queue for a flight, you check two separate boxes — one to agree to be texted, and one to acknowledge that your phone number is shared with your ride group. Both are unchecked by default and both are required; you cannot join the queue without ticking them. The consent reads:
Text me at [your number] when my ride group is ready. Message and data rates may apply; reply STOP to opt out.
I understand my first name and phone number are shared with the people I'm matched with, so we can coordinate the ride.
What we send
One message, when your ride group forms — roughly 24 hours before your flight. It names the people in your group, where you're all leaving from, the time window to aim for, and what car to book. We may also text you if we could not find you a group.
PitPool does not send marketing or promotional texts. Expect one or two messages per trip you book, and none at any other time.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message and we will stop texting you. Reply HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not cancel a ride you have already been matched into — you keep your group and their contact details.
Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.
Mobile information
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
We use a messaging provider to deliver these texts on our behalf. Your number is shared with them only to send you your own messages.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your trips so you can see your ride history. PitPool sits in your ride group chat in order to send the one announcement message; we do not store the contents of what you and your group say to each other.
Want your account and data deleted? Email us and we'll remove it. Deleting your account cancels any queue entries you have open.
